Swazi protests in pictures

I have never seen so many people on the streets of this sleepy town. I have never been to a protest and not been approached by intelligence police. This was such a strangely peaceful day. Lots of toyi-toyi – thousands and thousands of people marched to the PM’s office to demand his resignation. They are sick of mismanagement and corruption they say. They worry government has run out of money to pay their salaries…

Riot police itching to have a go at protesters. They even sang an eery little war song and shuffled their feet but someone, somewhere (Zuma it is rumoured) said don’t touch the protesters. Sorry guys.
